Kites – Someone Bigger

This week, we again had a full 40 minutes due to no checking out at the end of the school year.  Our theme was Kites.  I read “Someone Bigger” by Jonathon Emmett. I elicited the students help by having them complete the phrase Someone…. Bigger, everytime we encountered it in the story.  They loved participating in the story.

After the story, we made kites. First, we watched the video from 20 Kites, 20 Kids, 20 minutes on how to make kites.  I used bright colored masking tape that I discovered from our art teachers.  They are a great resource for novel supplies.  Instead of stirs we used colored straws.
