Nana in the City by Lauren Castillo

The week before last, we read Nana in the City by Laura Castillo.  We “researched” what city the story was set based on the clues on the first page (large city, near large water/river/lake/ocean, distinctive bridge)  .   After reading the book, we discussed the positive and negative aspects of living in a big city.  Second graders are studying urban, suburban and rural in their classrooms. This book is a 2014 Caldecott Honor Book.
